kumon progress

it has always been my intention to send my children to attend kumon classes. last december, i took nadia nasira and her brother for an assessment to check on their readiness and yes, nadia nasira was ready to be in level 7A i.e. the lowest level while her brother wasn't. read here for more on this.

i decided that classes at genius aulad alone was enough for the children at that moment as i wanted them to get the proper learning concept first. i didn't want to overwhelm my children when it wasn't really necessary or when they are not really ready.  i wanted them to enjoy education and make learning be part of their growing up.

we took the children again for the same assessment last week.  this is after having met their teachers and obtained their view on the children's development during the report card day as well as my own assessment of their ability.  as expected, nadia nasira's level is a combination of level 5A and 6A while nashwan nasr is level 5A.  i was amazed at my son's progress from the first assessment compared to this one.  he actually sat down, listened to the instruction and did the assessment.  and yes, the children are now ready to attend kumon classes.  read here for more on kumon method.

the centre that i have chosen is 10 minutes away from my mother in law's house.  they offer only mathematics and not english, which will only be introduced next year.  it is fine with me.  the classes are every tuesdays and fridays for an hour anytime between 5 to 9 pm.  it doesn't stop there. for the first time, there will be homeworks for the children.  i am glad as i already have introduced to them the concept of homework sometime ago.  let's see how it goes.

good luck children!
